Planning and saving a trip
Your unsaved planner answers stay in your browser. When you choose Save or Share, we store your itinerary or lodging results, title, preferences and save date on our servers. A cookie links your saved list to your browser without an account and expires after one year unless renewed by saving.
Anyone with a shared itinerary or lodging-results link can view its dates and preferences. Avoid putting personal information in trip names or notes. You can remove a saved plan from Saved Plans; its shared link will stop working. You can remove saved lodging results from Saved stays. Clearing your browser cookies removes access to your saved list, so keep any links you want to retain. The most recent printable itinerary is also stored on your device.
Downloaded trips and backups
You can download an itinerary for offline reading or export your saved itinerary list from Saved Plans. Backups include trip titles, dates, preferences and notes; keep these files private. Restoring a backup uploads its plans to Maine Unplanned and creates new saved copies in this browser, checked against the current catalog. It does not transfer ownership of the original plans or change their shared links. Offline copies do not update automatically, and external links still need internet access.
Optional Google Analytics
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics uses cookies and online identifiers to measure visits, traffic sources and actions such as creating a plan, saving or sharing it, and following recommendation or booking links. It may process browser and device information and approximate location derived from your connection.
We send only selected interaction details, such as region, number of itinerary days and the catalog identifier of a recommended activity. We do not send your email, trip title, notes, exact travel dates or the unique identifier in a shared itinerary URL. Query strings are excluded from our reported page addresses. Google Analytics advertising features and ad personalization are disabled in our website connection.
Analytics begins only after you choose Allow analytics. Choose Decline analytics to use the planner without Google Analytics. You can change your choice using “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of any page. Declining stops future site analytics events and clears accessible Google Analytics cookies on this site; it does not remove information already received by Google.

Newsletters
The Acadia newsletter signup is managed by beehiiv, which handles subscriber information, confirmation and unsubscribe links. See beehiiv’s Privacy Policy. Future regional waiting lists store your email, edition and signup date on Maine Unplanned. Those regional emails are not being sent yet. Confirmed signups inside beehiiv are managed and counted there.
Stay22 accommodation search
The Stay22 map loads automatically after you submit a lodging search with valid dates and an area, or open saved lodging results with valid future dates. If you search All Maine, it loads after you choose a map area. This shares your selected area, travel dates, adult and child counts, and one-room search with Stay22. Stay22 and its providers also receive connection information such as your IP address and browser information and may use their own cookies or similar technologies. We do not send your pet requirements, accessibility needs or other must-haves to the map. See Stay22’s Privacy Policy. Our optional Google Analytics setting controls our site analytics; the external accommodation search is separate.
Booking links
Reservations and purchases take place on provider websites. Their privacy policies apply after you leave Maine Unplanned. Affiliate links may earn us a commission on qualifying bookings, and sponsors are clearly labeled. We do not collect your payment details.
